I remember watching this movie when it first came out on VHS. As a kid, I belief it was a horrible movie, a possible scenario of World War III. After buying the DVD and watching it again, I must say that it tranquil stirs emotions in me. This depiction of an attack on U.S. soil is possible, but astounding. To leer this movie and say that the events shown could NEVER happen is foolish and ignorant.

One previous reviewer asks what happened to NATO in the movie. Well, if the reviewer had paid attention, NATO had dissolved in the movie. Another Famous detail that some reviewers left out was the nuclear attack on most bases and federal headquarters. The communists did not honest prefer all their planes and tanks and fair march in. A nuclear “first-strike” was initiated to throw the U.S. completely off-balance. Powers Boothe, who plays a downed F-15 pilot, explains all of these events to the kids that are now acting as guerillas in the movie. As someone who served in the Air Force as a missle originate control officer, I got to peep how strategies like the ones portrayed in this movie could work.

The whole yarn in this movie is about Russians and Cubans (along with Nicaraguans) invading the U.S. and how it affects the lives of some high school kids. These kids become “The Wolverines”. Named after their high school mascot, they become guerillas, slowly taking out limited enemy installations and equipment. They do not single-handedly ruin all the commies as some other reviewers contemplate that was depicted! There were other guerilla units, too.

The film portrays war in a somewhat negative light, but preserves patriotism and acknowledges the legitimacy of the Second Amendment. I highly recommend buying this DVD because of that! The only blemish that it has is the sound quality. I expected better sound with Dolby Digital and DVD quality.

I was walking around at the local dvd store yesterday looking for a nice movie to inspect that same evening. My see fell on Red Dawn, and I read what the abet of the dvd said. I was tempted and it sounded like an spirited film, so I bought it and watched it.

Red Dawn follows the fable of 8 teenagers that manage to hasten an attack on their home town when world war III breaks out. They fly into the mountains and from there they attack the enemyforces with gurellia attacks. This leads to tall, but also brutal action scenes, thrilling, but also disturbing situations and highly emotional scenes that indicate the human soul damage and broke down.

As soon as the credits were rolling over the cloak I was unruffled and objective gazed at the hide, thinking about what I had seen. The message had reached me loud and distinct.

The casting of this film is well done. All of the actors act realistic and their emotion feels terribly valid, which definitely helps you to feel for them. The cast contains well-known stars that where all not that celebrated while starring in this film. It contains Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing, Road House, Ghost), Charlie Sheen (Platoon, Wall street), Lea Thompson (Assist to the Future I, II and III) and Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing) . The rest of the main cast is less noted (at least, to me), but level-headed do one hell of a job bringing their characters to life that all feel like actual personnes in stead of unbiased a few movie characters.

The only thing that should have been different about this film is that you don’t really acquire to know the characters before the war stars. After only about four minutes the attack starts, so you don’t really know what kind of main characters you are dealing with. But when they are together and thinking what there can be done, you will gaze who is who and what kind of characters they are.

The film has a lot of action sequences and thrilling moments that will entertain action and war fans for certain. Also Drama fans are definitely on the just situation with this movie cause it really touches you. Comedy fans will have to gawk someplace else, cause there are only about two itsy-bitsy jokes in the entire film, for the rest the film is gruesome, realistic, even disturbing at some points and is definitely not for the faint of heart. It really shows what happens to people during war, how their feelings change, how their entire personality changes. The message is therefor loud and clear: war is bad, changes people terribly and gives nothing more than destruction, wound and a lot of suffering.

The film has a moral eighties leer and helps to give the legend a kind of gritty ogle. It is a well shot narrate and although some of the camerapositions don’t retract some expressions that well, it shows you what has to be shown. The sets are mostly outdoor and there are graceful landscapes that serve bring the fable to life. It does not feel like being filmed in a backyard. The music is nice but isn’t that indicate in all the scenes which is a pitty some times.

The film is collected echoing in my mind. It obvious left an impression on me and the film is an emotional amble that left me actually caring for the characters.

A film that I will remember for a long time to near.

I don’t know why Paramount released this collection of nine expansive John Wayne westerns on the same day that they released these same films plus five others for twenty-seven extra dollars in The John Wayne Century Collection (Stout Jake, Donovan’s Reef, El Dorado, Hatari!, Hondo, In Harm’s Contrivance, Island in the Sky, McLintock!, Rio Lobo, The High and the Powerful, etc.) .

The five additional films in the Century Collection are Donovan’s Reef, In Harm’s Map, Hatari, The High and the Grand (2 disc edition), and Island in the Sky. Basically, this western status is unbiased a subset of the century collection. I would normally give this residence four stars - five for train and three for value, but after all this is John Wayne! His outstanding films in any subset in which they are grouped together shouldn’t suffer from a poor rating honest because Paramount’s home video department is clueless.

This pack includes Director’s cuts and documentaries for a couple of the movies more huge stuff. In this review, I’m not going to rate the albums, honest offer some insights into the CD’s and DVD’s that I have purchased - and I’m elated I’ve purchased them all.

“The Critical Willie Nelson” is famous. “Willie and Family Live”, done around 1975, is a stout live album. It has lots of energy. A highlight for me was Willie Nelson, Emmy Lou Harris, and Johnny Paycheck singing “Extraordinary Grace” together. It also contains the fourteen puny fable of the Red Headed Stranger, including “Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain”. This live performance of Willie’s first #1 hit is the best I have heard on any album. There is a small extra “oomph” on every song in the CD. Again, execute definite you score the 70th birthday edition, it has extra goodies.

If you like the early clean hits that Willie wrote for everyone else, like “Crazy”, “Night Life”, and “Amusing How Time Slips Away”, then you need to also accept the “Milk Cow Blues” CD. Willie performs these and more Blues standards, usually in a duet format, with outstanding artists such as B.B. King - Rolling Stone Magazine’s choice as the 3rd greatest guitarist of all time. Hearing BB and Willie strum and drawl together on “Night Life” and “The Thrill is Gone” is indeed a thrill. Willie performs this album with a first class Blues band and it is a first class Blues album.

Willie’s latest album, “It Will Always Be” is once again a solid fragment of work. Duets with Norah Jones and Lucinda Williams serve create it special, but the best fragment of this album is the haunting duet of Willie and Paula Nelson on the song “It Will Always Be”. This is a song that hits you in the gut, and it rivals Bruce Springstein’s “Streets of Philadelphia” in terms of its raw emotion. A number of people, including me, cried the first time they heard it: “I’m tied of this and I’m running out of time; feels like dyin’, feels like cryin’; and I’m running out of time.” Say it ain’t so, Willie!! A second estimable song was written by another member of the Nelson clan. The title song is very exquisite. The tribute to the land Willie loves, “Texas”, is too short but very meaningful. If this was Willie’s last CD, he went out as “The Midnight Rider”, a broad song for the leader of the outlaw movement: “They ain’t gonna secure me, I ain’t go let `em accept the Midnight Rider.”

“Spirit” and “Teatro” are brother/sister CDs. Both have a strong thematic core, although they are not stories. “Spirit” is one of those rare CD’s when every mark seems principal. For most, you’ll listen to it less than the other CD’s, but fancy it equally as considerable. For a few, you’ll play it by the hours. It is essentially a anecdote of coping with lost cherish, redefining your relationship with yourself and with God, and finding admire again. The music and the whole CD are moderately paced, with a strong, loyal spiritual tone to it. It has a light Latin sound, well-known to Willie’s roots. A number of people criticize the “Live In Amsterdam” DVD and some of the criticisms are merited. But hey, the DVD has a sizable collection of tremendous songs. Some criticisms are not pleasing. You produce differently and 70 than you do at 40, it is a biological rule. Willie’s shows have always moved snappily from one song to the other, so the shuffle of the concert is nothing unique. The like from the audience is shown at the extinguish when Willie is signing autograph after autograph. The bottom line is this, if you like Willie, if you would like to glimpse him live occasionally instead of unbiased hearing him through the box, and if you want those images of him at 70, then you should retract this DVD. You’ll pick up it worthwhile.

In the final analysis, the raw power of Willie’s work, formed by singing in the cotton fields with Gloomy and Mexican laborers, and his alive to insight into what people really want in music, formed not through narrate company analysis but through live performances on the ground, develop Willie Nelson one of the most creative, considerable, and loved performers of all time.

One of the best films ever made that explores the human heart, “Shirley Valentine” begins with a bored British housewife who aches for “the girl who faded to be me.” Shirley Valentine was the rebel, the smart-mouth, the girl who would dare to do what other girls only dreamed of having the nerve to try. Pauline Collins deserved the Oscar she was nominated for (too awful she didn’t find it), with one of the best performances by an actor ever place onto film. The perfect movie to peer WHENEVER you are “down in the dumps,” this film will cheer you up and give you hope, each and every time.

I saw this movie many years ago, when it first hit the art house theatres. I bought it on video as soon as it was available!

This movie touched me in a map that no other movie has before. Shirley’s desire to rediscover life during a marriage that’s humdrum, along with two grown kids that don’t seem to care distinguished for her anymore, really was poignant. Her desire to gain that young, rebellious girl that she once was, willing to rob chances and luxuriate in life, inspect the world — it’s an unbelievable film.

You’ll delight in her diminutive sidebars to the cameras and her conversations with inanimate objects. Pauline Collins is adorable and a delight in this film. It’s a gigantic film for women and men alike, for those who have forgotten who they are but want to net befriend in touch with their inner child, realize that unbiased because your 40 doesn’t mean you’re dead; you’ve got a lot more living to do, as Shirley states in the movie.

Buy it for yourself and for others. It’s amusing and touching at the same time. You’ll cheer for Shirley as she breaks out of the bored housewife mode and into the sexy go-getter who’s ready to conquer the world.

The only complaint I have (and it’small) is that the first time you spy it, you may have a hard time belief Shirley. Her British accent is rather hard, but once you’ve watched it a number of times (and I’m positive you will want to) you find aged to the accent.
